A Black Moon is Coming (No, It’s Not a Goth Band, But Close)

A Black Moon is Coming (No, It’s Not a Goth Band, But Close)

If you’ve been feeling a little off lately -- restless, buzzy, like you could fight a raccoon with your bare hands -- well, buckle up. A Black Moon is on the way.

What’s a Black Moon, you ask? It’s when we get two new moons in a single month. Basically, the cosmic equivalent of a bonus round. New moons are already about fresh starts, intention-setting, and big witchy “new chapter” energy. A Black Moon just doubles down on all of it. Think: new-new beginnings, but make it spooky.

When’s the best time to do rituals? The magic is strongest on the actual day of the Black Moon, but the energy lingers for 2–3 days afterward. So don’t panic if you’re busy or forget until later -- cosmic energy is more forgiving than your email inbox.

So, what can you actually do to lean into the magic without overcomplicating it? Glad you asked:

🌑 Set One Intention (Not Twelve) – Instead of making an overwhelming to-do list, pick one thing you really want to call in. Write it down, whisper it to your houseplants, scream it into the void -- whatever works.

🕯 Light It Up – Grab a candle (black if you’re feeling witchy, whatever you’ve got if you’re not) and let it burn while you focus on that intention. Bonus points if you carve a word or symbol into the wax.

Clear the Clutter – No, you don’t have to reorganize your whole house. But clean out that one drawer that stresses you out every time you open it. Clearing physical space = making room for magical opportunities.

💧 Charge Your Drink – Fill a glass of water, tea, wine, Diet Coke -- dealer’s choice. Hold it, focus on your intention, then drink it like the potion it is. (Because it kind of is.)

🌿 Add a Little Earth Magic – Toss a crystal in your pocket, hang some herbs by your door, or just stand barefoot in the grass for five minutes. Grounding is underrated.

Black Moons are rare, intense, and a little chaotic (my favorite vibe). The energy can feel heavy, but it’s really just an invitation to reset in a bigger way than usual. Think of it as a cosmic ctrl+alt+delete.

So light your candle, set your intention, and maybe fight that raccoon after all -- metaphorically, of course. Unless you’re braver than me.
